Genevieve Ngosa is a New York City based artist who was introduced to acting, dancing, modelling and voice-overs from a young age. Genevieve’s passion for her craft led her to pursue formal training in both Grotowski and Stanislavski methodologies. Genevieve is a recent graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Conservatory where she has been honing her skills as an actor.

Current Projects…

Genevieve recently completed a four week intensive at The Billie Holiday Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, through the Black Arts Initiative. Here, she engaged in masterclass sessions and workshops in audiobook basics, casting, dramaturgy and movement for the actor, to name a few. She is currently preparing to leave the city to complete work on a short film, Saltwater, scheduled to shoot in Barbados at the end of August and upon return she will be preparing for an Off-Off Broadway play in addition to a production this fall at the New York Theatre Festival.

Genevieve’s previous credit includes Everybody, a play by Branden Jacobs Jenkins, which was a modern adaptation of the 15th-century morality play, Everyman. The play was directed by Ryan Quinn and was premiered at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She also played Bonnie in Anatomy Of A Suicide by Alice Birch with direction by Barbara Rubin, as well as Agave in the classic Greek play, Bakkhai, written by Euripides, translated by Anne Carson and directed by Ioanna Katsarou. Genevieve has also worked with Anna Rebek of Shakespeare Workshoppe in an immersive re-telling of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Genevieve played the notorious Cassius in this gripping, political drama that tells the story of a nation, its government and the people. She has also worked on a new web-series, Colored Girl Chronicles, which was directed by Dexcee Lowe. Genevieve has done scene study work with Susan Pilar, Maggie Low and Yvette Heyliger. She was previously cast as Brutus in another production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar which was directed by Michael F. Toomey as well as Emilia 3, in a new play called Emil!a, written by Morgan Llyod-Malcolm and directed by Ioanna Katsarou as part of her main stage performances at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Genevieve just wrapped a short film she was cast in through Backstage called The Patriarch which was written and directed by Tisa Chigaga. Genevieve Ngosa is the recipient of the prestigious Charles Jehlinger award given by The American Academy of Dramatic Arts to those who come closest to personifying Jehlinger’s ideals by exhibiting excellence as a person and an artist who displays professionalism towards the craft. Genevieve will soon be graduating from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York Company as she continues to work as a professional actor.
